Geater was to Bobby “Blue” Bland as James Carr was to Otis Redding. Like Carr (The greatest soul singer of all-time), Geater never saw the recognition that he really deserved and was often compared to his more recognized counterpart. Geater had that big-horn, Bluesy Texas sound like Bland but with an added layer of grit to his voice. This track doesn’t really exemplify my point as it’s more upbeat than what you’d usually find in his wheelhouse, but you can still hear what I mean. I’ve got one more by him I’ll post tomorrow.
